Lead PHP (Laravel) Developer

DigiTech Marketing is growing, and we are searching for a Lead PHP (Laravel) Developer to take ownership of our backend architecture and lead a team of WordPress developers as we scale our iGaming platforms.

We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader with strong PHP/Laravel expertise, who can both architect and deliver, while mentoring a team and driving best practices across multiple web properties.

Our Dev team builds tools and faces complex challenges while successfully delivering our product to users worldwide, from England to Nigeria and Canada to India.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Leading the design, architecture, and development of scalable backend systems using PHP (Laravel)

• Managing and mentoring a team of WordPress developers, ensuring code quality and best practices

• Overseeing multiple web platforms (primarily WordPress-based) and their integration with custom backend services

• Defining technical direction, architecture decisions, and development standards

• Collaborating with product, marketing, and SEO teams to build high- performance, SEO-friendly platforms

• Ensuring system performance, scalability, uptime, and reliability

• Reviewing code, conducting technical audits, and improving existing systems

• Investigating and resolving complex technical issues

• Driving DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment processes

Required Skills:

• 6+ years of experience in PHP development

• Strong hands-on experience with Laravel (architecture, APIs, scalable systems)

• Proven experience leading or mentoring development teams

• Solid experience with WordPress (custom themes, plugins, performance optimization)

• Strong understanding of SEO-friendly architectures and high-traffic websites

• Experience with MySQL / MariaDB

• Good knowledge of Docker and containerized environments

• Strong problem-solving and system design skills

• Professional spoken and written English

Nice to have:

• Experience with microservices architecture and Domain Driven Design

• Experience with REST APIs and integrations

• Familiarity with caching layers and performance optimization

• Experience with AWS or Azure

• CI/CD pipelines and Git workflows

• Monitoring tools (Grafana, Graylog, etc.)

• Front-end understanding (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React)
